DOCUMENTARY Wedding Photography And Videos
Why I See People This Way
Photography begins with observation.
Long before I photographed weddings, surprise proposals, and families, I spent years working as a documentary photographer, visual journalist, and filmmaker. That experience taught me that the most meaningful moments can't be directed—they can only be noticed.
Today, that same perspective guides every wedding, proposal, and portrait I photograph.
Careful planning creates the freedom to be fully present, allowing genuine moments to unfold naturally while I quietly document them with honesty and care.
Over the years, I've come to believe that photography is about more than creating beautiful images. It's about paying attention to the relationships, emotions, and moments that reveal who we are.
Years from now, I don't simply want you to remember what your wedding looked like or where your proposal took place.
I want you to remember how it felt.
That is why I photograph.
A Little About Me
I'm Paul Myers, the photographer behind Oceanlight Studios.
For more than three decades, my work has centered on documentary storytelling through photography and film. I've worked as a photojournalist, visual producer, filmmaker, educator, and photographer, always drawn to projects that celebrate people and the stories they carry.
Today, Oceanlight Studios brings that documentary perspective to weddings, surprise proposals, and portrait photography throughout California.
Every relationship is different.
Every story deserves to be seen with honesty, curiosity, and care.
If that approach resonates with you, I'd love to hear your story.
